Robin Banerjee was a noted wildlife expert, environmentalist, painter, photographer and documentary filmmaker who lived at Golaghat in the Indian state of Assam.

Robin Banerjee was born on 1908-08-12 at Baharampur in West Bengal and received primary schooling at Santiniketan. He went on to pursue medical education at the prestigious Calcutta Medical College in Kolkata, and later at Liverpool (1934) and Edinburgh (1936).

Sunil Gangopadhyay was an Indian poet and novelist.He was born in Faridpur in what is now Bangladesh. He studied at the Surendranath College, Dum Dum Motijheel College, City College, Kolkata - all affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Thereafter, he obtained his Master's degree in Bengali from the University of Calcutta in 1954.

He married Swati Bandopadhyay on February 26, 1967. Their only son, Sauvik, who stays in Boston, was born on November 20, 1967. Sunil Gangopadhyay died at his South Kolkata residence in the early hours on October 23, 2012 following a massive heart attack.

Neeraj Pandey (born 1973) is an Indian film director best known for his drama-thriller film, A Wednesday (2008), for which he won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director.His work on the film was highly praised by audiences as well as critics.He was nominated for "Best Director" category by Filmfare Awards. He also expressed his interest in directing the sequel to "A Wednesday."

Born and brought up in Kolkata, Neeraj Pandey moved to New Delhi, where he graduated in English.
