German automaker Audi has unveiled the refreshed 2024 Audi Q8 SUV on a global stage. The original Q8 made its debut in 2018, and after five years, it receives a significant facelift. This updated SUV has been showcased at the ongoing Munich motor show, boasting cosmetic enhancements, new features, and an even sharper appearance.
In terms of design, the 2024 Q8 incorporates cutting-edge technology into its aesthetics, including revamped headlights, a reworked bumper, and a refreshed grille. The vehicle boasts a spacious trapezoidal grille adorned with new octagonal apertures and ‘L’ shaped inserts. Complementing this are larger air intakes and gloss black grille surrounds, featuring the brand-new Audi 2D logo.
The 2024 Q8 also introduces high-intensity LED headlights equipped with HD Matrix LED technology and an additional laser-based high beam. LED daytime running lights with customizable light signatures are part of the package, featuring 24 LEDs and a high-power laser diode with a blue ambient light telltale integrated into the headlight unit. This refreshed model now offers three additional paint options and showcases five new alloy wheel designs, ranging from 21 to 23 inches.
While the rear profile remains largely unchanged, there are subtle cosmetic updates, including digital OLED rear taillights featuring four selectable light designs that interact with the headlights. Audi has introduced a clever feature where the taillights automatically activate when a vehicle approaches within two meters while the Q8 is stationary.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard layout retains its familiar appearance but receives several cosmetic updates, fresh features, and new upholstery choices. Noteworthy features include dual screens for the infotainment system and climate control, a digital instrument cluster, an App Store with third-party apps like Spotify and Amazon Music, a 360-degree camera, connected car technology, four-zone climate control, a head-up display, seat heating, ventilation, massage functions, a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, and more.
Under the hood, the 2024 Q8 maintains its versatility with both petrol and diesel engine options. Diesel enthusiasts can opt for the 45 TDI powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine delivering 231 hp and 500Nm of torque. Another diesel option is the 50 TDI, equipped with the same 3.0-liter V6, but tuned to produce 286 hp and 600Nm of torque.
For those favoring petrol power, the 55 TFSI variant houses a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine generating 340 hp and 500Nm of torque. Both petrol and diesel engines come mated to an 8-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox, distributing power to all four wheels.
In addition to the standard variants, Audi presents the sportier SQ8, featuring a robust 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering 507 hp and a formidable 770Nm of torque. This variant utilizes an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission, coupled with all-wheel drive. The SQ8 is further enhanced with a torque-vectoring sport differential and electromechanical active roll bars, powered by a 48-volt supercapacitor.
