French automaker Citroen has exciting news for automobile enthusiasts in India. The company has officially announced that bookings for the eagerly awaited Citroen C3 Aircross will commence on September 15, 2023. Potential buyers can secure their reservations either through the online platform or by visiting their nearest Citroen dealership. With its launch expected in October 2023, the starting price for the C3 Aircross is anticipated to be around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). Once it hits the market, this SUV will enter into competition with some well-established rivals, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
A Versatile Addition to Citroen’s Lineup
The Citroen C3 Aircross marks another compelling addition to Citroen’s portfolio in India, following the C5 Aircross, C3, and ëC3. This SUV is built on the same versatile CMP modular platform, which also serves as the foundation for the C3 and ëC3 models. Offering flexibility to buyers, the C3 Aircross will be available in both five and seven-seating configurations. Citroen boasts that this vehicle achieves an impressive localization rate of up to 90 percent, emphasizing its commitment to the Indian market. The company has further revealed plans to introduce a third model on the CMP modular platform by 2024.
Design and Features
In terms of design, the C3 Aircross draws inspiration from the C3, featuring the integrated logo on the front grille. The two-layer design incorporates chrome and piano black inserts, giving it a stylish appearance. Y-shaped LED DRLs adorn the front, with the headlamps positioned below. The vehicle boasts larger air vents surrounded by round fog lamps. The rear of the C3 Aircross showcases a spacious tailgate complemented by square taillamps, and it rides on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels for a distinctive look.
Inside, the C3 Aircross shares a dashboard layout with the C3 hatchback. It comes equipped with a 10-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, it is worth noting that automatic climate control is not part of the package. The C3 Aircross offers both five-seat and three-row layouts, ensuring versatility for different passenger needs. Furthermore, the SUV features dedicated AC vents for second and third-row passengers and boasts a fully digital instrument cluster with multiple drive modes.
Power and Performance
Citroen offers the C3 Aircross with a single-engine option, a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that generates 110 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine and gearbox combination is familiar to those who have experienced the C3 hatchback, ensuring a reliable and efficient performance on the road.
As the Citroen C3 Aircross prepares to make its entrance into the Indian market, it brings with it a blend of style, practicality, and performance. With bookings opening soon, Indian car enthusiasts have an exciting addition to look forward to in the compact SUV segment.
