Former Zimbabwe Cricketer Heath Streak Passes Away

On September 3, the cricket world mourned the loss of former Zimbabwe cricketer Heath Streak. The news of his passing was confirmed by his wife, Nadine Streak, after false rumours of his death had circulated.

A Legendary Career

Streak’s contribution to Zimbabwe cricket cannot be overstated. He represented his country in 65 Test matches and 189 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), where he showcased his talent as a bowler and a batsman. In Test matches, Streak took an impressive 216 wickets, while in ODIs, he claimed 239 wickets. Not only that, but he also scored 1990 runs in red-ball cricket and accumulated 2943 runs in ODIs. Streak remains Zimbabwe’s all-time highest wicket-taker in both formats of the game.

Heartbreaking Announcement

Following the tragic loss, Nadine Streak took to social media to share the devastating news and express her grief. In a heartfelt Facebook post, she wrote:

“In the early hours of this morning, Sunday, September 3rd, 2023, the greatest love of my life and the father of my beautiful children, was carried to be with the angels from his home, where he wished to spend his last days surrounded by his family and closest loved ones. He was covered in love and peace and did not walk off the park alone. Our souls are joined for eternity, Streaky. Till I hold you again.”
