New Delhi: The Indian women’s blind cricket team achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first team to secure a spot in the final of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023. The team’s exceptional performance in the league phase has propelled them to this unprecedented achievement.

On Thursday, the Indian women’s cricket team etched their name in the annals of sports history by qualifying for the final of the IBSA World Games 2023. Their remarkable journey to the final was characterized by stellar performances and an unwavering display of talent.

The Indian women’s team secured their berth in the final by securing their third consecutive victory in the league phase. Their triumph came against Australia on Wednesday night, further cementing their dominance in the tournament.

Blind cricket made a significant debut in the IBSA World Games, and from the moment India’s women’s cricket team took the field on August 20, they showcased an exceptional blend of skills and determination.

In their opening match against Australia, India emerged victorious with an 8-wicket win, setting the tone for a triumphant campaign. The women’s blind cricket team exhibited both skill and strategy as they limited Australia to a score of 59/6, effortlessly chasing down the target.

The second match against England saw India’s batting prowess come to the fore, with a commanding total of 268/2 in the allocated 20 overs. Gangavva H.’s spectacular innings of 117 off 60 balls played a pivotal role in India’s victory by a massive margin of 185 runs.

Continuing their dominant run, India registered another resounding victory in their third match against Australia on Wednesday, clinching a commanding 163-run win.

The Indian women’s blind cricket team has now secured a place in the finals, setting the stage for a title showdown that will take place on Saturday. Prior to the finals, India is scheduled to play their last league match against England on Thursday.

In the men’s category, India is slated to compete in the semifinals on Friday. A victory in the semifinal clash would set the stage for a highly anticipated final match against arch-rivals Pakistan in the IBSA World Games 2023.
