Rohit Sharma has become India’s fifth-highest run-scorer in international cricket. The India captain achieved the milestone during the opening day of the second Test match against West Indies in Port of Spain. Sachin Tendulkar continues to top the batting charts.

Rohit Sharma has achieved yet another record in his cricketing career and has gone past MS Dhoni to become India’s fifth-highest run-scorer in international cricket. The opening batsman achieved the milestone on day 1 of the ongoing Test match between India and West Indies. Rohit hit a half-century in the first session of the day.

Rohit (17281 runs) was already ahead of Dhoni on the list of batsmen with the most runs for India (17092). Since Dhoni also played a few matches for Asia XI, he finished his international cricket career with 17266 runs. Rohit has now gone past him in this list as well.

Rohit scored a gritty half-century in the first session en route to his journey to the fifth position. The list is topped by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 34357 runs in 664 matches.

The Master Blaster is followed by Virat Kohli, who has scored 25461 runs. Tendulkar never played an international fixture for any other team apart from India. Kohli too hasn’t played international cricket for Asia XI or any of the ICC’s teams.

With 24208 runs, Rahul Dravid sits at the 3rd spot. The former India captain also played for ICC World XI and Asia XI. Sourav Ganguly acquires the fourth spot with 18575 runs.

Rohit is pretty close to Ganguly’s tally and can replace him at the fourth spot in the next one year. The right-handed batsman is India’s all-format captain at present.

Talking of the ongoing Test match, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal punished West Indies’ bowlers and added 121 runs for the first wicket in the opening session. Rohit is batting on 63 while Yashasvi has scored 52 runs thus far. The left-handed batsman was dropped at the stroke of lunch.

Rohit and Yashasvi put on a double-century partnership in the first Test and will aim to replicate their heroics in Port of Spain.
