In a momentous celebration of exceptional educators, the nation is set to honor 75 distinguished teachers with the prestigious National Teachers’ Award on September 5th in New Delhi. Among these distinguished awardees, the state of Meghalaya proudly claims two luminaries who have illuminated the path of knowledge and service.
Madhav Singh, a dedicated science teacher at Alpha English HS School, and Timothy Jones Dhar, a skilled motor vehicle instructor at ITI Shillong, are set to grace the stage and receive this well-deserved recognition.
The Torchbearers of Excellence
Madhav Singh’s journey is a testament to dedication and continuous self-improvement. Born on October 3rd, 1977, in Nongpoh to Sidheswar Singh and Champa Devi, Madhav’s educational pursuits led him to earn an M.Sc in Botany, a B.Ed degree, and he is currently on the cusp of completing his LLB course. His commitment to the cause of education and service is deeply rooted in his father’s advice to uplift and support their community in every possible way. Madhav embodies this ethos with humility and a sincere desire to make a meaningful impact.
Timothy Jones Dhar’s story echoes resilience and the pursuit of excellence against all odds. Fueled by a passion for motor mechanics, he embarked on a journey of self-improvement by apprenticing with some of Shillong’s finest motor mechanic workshops. His determination to excel was not deterred by the lack of formal training; he honed his skills through diligent labor in local garages. Starting as a Mechanic Motor Vehicle in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills in 1998, he has now risen to the esteemed position of Mechanic Motor Vehicle Inspector at Shillong Industrial Training Institute since 2013.
A Tribute to Diligence and Dedication
Both Madhav Singh and Timothy Jones Dhar exemplify the spirit of true educators who tirelessly contribute to the growth and development of their students and communities. Their stories illuminate the essence of National Teachers’ Day, which is celebrated annually on September 5th in honor of India’s former president, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers’ Award 2023 upon these deserving awardees at the grand ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. As the nation recognizes their extraordinary contributions, Madhav Singh and Timothy Jones Dhar stand as beacons of inspiration, reminding us of the profound impact that educators wield in shaping lives and society.
