Salaar is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language action thriller film written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. It stars Prabhas as the titular character, along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, and Ramachandra Raju. The film was announced in December 2020 with principal photography beginning in January 2021 near Godavarikhani, Telangana. The music is composed by Ravi Basrur, while the cinematography is done by Bhuvan Gowda. It is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 28 September 2023.
The film is set in the Kolar Gold Fields and tells the story of a powerful and ruthless gangster named Salaar. Prabhas plays the titular character, who is a man of few words but great action. Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the antagonist, a cop who is determined to bring Salaar down. Shruti Haasan plays a pivotal role in the film, and her character is said to be the love interest of Salaar.
The film has been highly anticipated since its announcement, due to the success of Prashanth Neel’s previous film, K.G.F: Chapter 2. The teaser of the film was released on 6 July 2023 and received a positive response from the audience.
